The legal stuff

Legal marriage documents

Planning your wedding should be about joy, not just paperwork. As a Commonwealth Registered Celebrant—which you can verify via the official government register—I’m here to ensure your journey to the altar is as seamless as it is special. My name is Bernadette Munro, and I take pride in handling the “fine print” so you can focus on the “I do”.

Navigating Your Legal Journey

As your celebrant, I handle the complexities of the legal process so you can enjoy a stress-free lead-up to your big day. There are five essential documents we will complete together.

Before the Wedding Day

  • Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM): This is the first step in declaring your intent to marry. It must be signed and lodged with me at least 31 days prior to your ceremony. To begin, please click the “See the NOIM” tab to download the PDF.
  • Identity & Eligibility Documents: You will need to provide sufficient photo ID. If you have been previously married, I will also need to sight your original Divorce or Death Certificate.
  • Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marry: This is signed closer to the wedding date to legally declare that there are no reasons why you cannot be lawfully joined.

On Your Wedding Day
At your ceremony, you, your partner, and two witnesses (over the age of 18) will sign the final three marriage certificates. Once these are signed, you are officially married!

After Your Wedding Day
Apply for your Official Marriage Certificate.
